Hello friends,
At long last, release day is upon us!
I’m beyond thrilled to announce that Secret Society’s new album, Dynamic Maximum Tension, is out today on Nonesuch Records, and has already been garnering rave reviews:
“A rich mix of dark sax improv, punchy soaring-brass riffing and seductive Gil Evans-worthy high-reeds dreamscapes.”
— John Fordham, The Guardian
“His best to date: a work of stunning versatility and complexity, but thoroughly accessible, borderline passionate, for all its intricate maneuvers.”
— Fred Kaplan, Tracking Angle
“Superb… Dynamic Maximum Tension is a delight.”
— Katchie Cartwright, All About Jazz
“Remarkable in its ambition, scope and sheer length, this is Argue’s crowning achievement to date.”
— Keith Hoffman, The New York City Jazz Record
The album pays homage to forward-looking mid-century innovators who fashioned their own vision of the future, with music dedicated to Buckminster Fuller, Alan Turing, Mae West, Duke Ellington, Laurie Frink, Bob Brookmeyer, and Levon Helm.
