Brooklyn Babylon nominated for Grammy

grammy

Secret Society’s sophomore release, Brooklyn Babylon, is a 2014 Grammy nominee in the Best Large Jazz Ensemble category.

This album was a long time in the making and my co-conspirators and I gave it our all. We are beyond thrilled that it’s gotten this kind of recognition! Needless to say, it’s an incredible honor — all the more so to be considered alongside such eminent nominees! It’s been a very good year for bigband albums and the strength of the nominated recordings is a testament to that.

I’m also very happy to see the nominations for my New Amsterdam labelmates Caroline Shaw and Roomful of Teeth.

The awards take place on Sunday, January 26, 2014. Best wishes to the many worthy nominees! Perusing the full list, it’s actually a pretty solid year for the Grammys, with many pleasant surprises! It’s always refreshing to see good work get some love.
